About this property
This is no cookie-cutter home. Designed for affordable off-grid living in Hawaii, this truly unique property is located just one mile from world-famous Kehena Black Sand Beach. Tucked into a quiet, friendly neighborhood and surrounded by lush tropical foliage, the home feels like a private treehouse retreat. The ground level features a spacious, newly built bedroom with high ceilings and abundant windows that fill the space with natural light and cooling breezes. Sliding doors open to a private grassy area, perfect for relaxing or gardening. Upstairs, you’ll find a beautiful kitchen and dining area overlooking vibrant greenery, making every meal a scenic experience. The kitchen is equipped with granite countertops and a handcrafted natural wood table with stools. Just off the dining area is a second generously sized bedroom with excellent storage and plenty of light. A separate bathhouse sits adjacent to the main home and includes a toilet, shower, laundry area, and a complete water catchment system with pumps and filters, providing clean, drinkable water. On the ground floor, a dedicated storage room houses the solar batteries, inverter, and charge controller—allowing you to enjoy true energy independence with a zero electric bill. This is a turn-key sale: all furnishings, kitchenware, garden tools, and more are included. Seller financing is available! Located in Kalapana Seaview Estates on the sunny southeast coast of Hawaiʻi Island, you’re just 20 minutes from Pāhoa for groceries and dining, and about 25 minutes more to Hilo for major shopping. Even closer, the Kaimu Store is five miles down the scenic Red Road near Uncle’s ʻAwa Bar and a Saturday farmers market. Continue along the coast to explore rugged shoreline, multiple state parks, and Isaac Hale State Park with its newly formed warm pond.
